The cost of home-cooked vegetarian and non-vegetarian thalis in India decreased by 5% and 7% respectively in October 2023. This was mainly due to a decline in the prices of potatoes and tomatoes. The cost of a non-veg thali decreased faster, primarily because of a decrease in the price of broiler. The decrease in thali prices was also influenced by a decline in fuel costs, particularly the price of cooking gas cylinders.
