Plane Carrying Arsenal Women's Team Bursts Into Flames On Runway

A plane that was to carry the Arsenal women's team back to London following their Champions League draw with Wolfsburg burst into flames on the runway. According to Metro, the incident occurred on Sunday evening at Germany's Braunschweig Wolfsburg Airport shortly before a Boeing 737 was due to take off.

An airport spokesman told the German newspaper Bild that a bird strike had caused the engine fire. Witnesses said that they heard a loud bang, following which the plane was stopped. Flames were spotted coming out of the plane, forcing the pilots to abandon take-off.

Fortunately, all passengers were evacuated and no one was hurt in the incident. However, the team was forced to stay in a hotel in Germany for an extra night owing to the mishap.

Later, Arsenal released a statement confirming the team returned home safely on Monday on a replacement plane.

The statement read, ''Our aircraft developed a technical issue prior to take-off in Germany on Sunday evening.  We remained in Wolfsburg overnight on Sunday before flying back to England on Monday afternoon. We would like to thank the staff onboard the aircraft and on the ground at the airport for their assistance.''

Wolfsburg is due to face Arsenal again in their Champions League semi-final on May 1.

RCB Stand-in Captain Kohli, Team Fined Heavily For Code of Conduct Breach

Virat Kohli, stand-in captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore, along with other members of his team have been fined a hefty sum after his team's slow over-rate against Rajasthan Royals in an IPL 2023 on Sunday. Kohli was fined Rs 24 lakh as he was the skipper of the side in the game. "Royal Challengers Bangalore, who had named Mr. Virat Kohli as their Captain for their game against Rajasthan Royals, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Rajasthan Royals at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on April 23, 2023," a statement from IPL read.

"As it was his team's second offence of the season under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr. Kohli was fined Rs. 24 lakh and each member of the Playing XI, including the impact substitute, was fined Rs. 6 lakh or 25 percent of the match fee, whichever is lesser."

Fiery half-centuries from Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell, followed by a three-wicket haul from Harshal Patel guided Royal Challengers Bangalore to a victory by seven runs against Rajasthan Royals, in their IPL 2023 match on Sunday.

Chasing 190, RR were on course after the early dismissal of Jos Buttler, with Yashasvi Jaiswal (47) and Devdutt Padikkal (52) stitching 98 runs for the second wicket before both departed in quick succession to be restricted to 182 for six. Harshal Patel (3/32) was the pick of the bowlers for RCB. Earlier, Maxwell hammered 77 off 44 balls while Faf contributed 62 off 39 balls for RCB. Video: American Airlines Plane Catches Fire After Bird Hits Engine

An American Airlines plane on Sunday was forced to return to Ohio airport after a bird strike sparked an engine fire. A video going viral on social media shows the plane returning to John Glenn International Airport in Columbus as flames and smoke are seen coming from the right engine. 

"@FAANews I just saw  AA1958 with major engine issues just after take off.  Flames shooting from the engine and wonky, pulsing noises from the aircraft," a Twitter user wrote while sharing a clip from the incident.

According to CNN, the Boeing 737 Flight 1958 had departed Columbus for Phoenix before the crew reported a bird strike on Sunday morning. The plane made it to the ground safely, with no injuries reported, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said, adding that an investigation into the incident is underway.

Speaking about the incident, a passenger aboard the plane told NBC 4 that he and others aboard the flight heard a loud clanking noise in the plane, with a pilot allegedly telling them they had hit a flock of geese shortly after take off. 

The passenger also added that once the plane safely landed, they all were removed and taken to another flight that left later in the morning. 

According to New York Post, this incident comes just days after another engine caught fire during take-off from the Charlotte Douglas Airport in North Carolina. No one was reported injured in the incident, which was later reported as a mechanical failure in the engine.

Warren Buffett Reveals What Worries Him More Than His Company

Aside from being recognised as one of the most successful investors of all time, Warren Buffett is also known for his invaluable wisdom. Now, in a recent interview, the billionaire investor has revealed a few things he worries about, and no, the success of his company is not one of them. 

In an interview with CNBC, the 92-year-old CEO of Berkshire Hathaway was asked how much he fretted about economic factors such as recent bank failures and inflation. To this, Mr Buffett said he was more concerned about things out of his control than issues with Berkshire Hathaway. He revealed that he worries more about the prospect of catastrophic global events such as another pandemic and nuclear war than the success of his company when he goes to bed at night. 

"Well, at 92 I've got other things to worry about," he told CNBC last week, adding, "No, I don't worry about our ability. There are things I worry about. Sure. I worry about the nuclear threat. I worry about a pandemic in the future, all kinds of things but I don't worry about them because I can't do anything about them".

Further, Mr Buffett said that he never ends his day worried about the performance of Berkshire Hathaway. "I never go to bed worried about Berkshire and how we'll handle a thing. If I'm worried about Berkshire, I should figure out something different to do about what Berkshire is doing," Mr Buffett stated. 

The 92-year-old also told the outlet that he is generally optimistic about the company because he was confident of his own ability to identify risks and trends in the economy before others. 

"I've got 99 and a fraction percent of my net worth in Berkshire, but I've got all my relatives in. I've got everybody in," Mr Buffett said. "If I thought that I wasn't going to be able to do a decent job of managing the risk, a better than decent job, I'd be crazy to take on that responsibility," he added. 

He also said that he believes happiness and optimism are important in living a long life, and that eating his favourite food like burgers, ice cream and Cocacola makes him happy even if they're bad for him. 

Notably, Warren Buffett is a businessman, philanthropist and one of the most successful and widely respected investors globally. He is known as the "Oracle of Omaha" and his investment philosophy is followed widely across the globe.

However, the video has drawn mixed reactions from internet users and sparked a debate about animal cruelty.

The video shows a raccoon from inside its zoo enclosure, mimicking a woman's dance moves perfectly while she pretends to rap. The video was shared on Twitter by a user named Morissa Schwartz which has amassed more than 12 lakh views, 51,000 likes and more than 1,000 retweets.

While some users were left amused, others felt that the animal's dance was actually caused by psychosis due to being kept in captivity. 

One user wrote, ''He seems chill enough to hang out with.'' Another said, ''Yes, cool moves, but it shouldn't be in a zoo. Anyways, loved it.''

Some termed it as an example of 'Zoochosis', a psychological disorder that can develop in captive animals.

A third wrote, ''This move is due to his confinement... and it's not fun.'' A fourth added, ''They should give me a job called “the worst person on Earth” where I debunk cute animals videos as abnormal behavior signs of abuse and captivity. I mean do you actually think raccoons can dance with you.'' 

A fifth stated, ''Repetitive movements caused by STRESS! It's not funny.'' A sixth commented, ''Not cool usually when animals feel trapped and scared they do these moves.''

Delta Passenger Accused Of Grabbing, Kissing Flight Attendant: Report

A Delta Airlines first-class passenger was arrested after he was accused of forcing himself on a male flight attendant and kissing him on the neck, New York Post reported. The passenger has been identified as David Alan Burk, aged 61, who was travelling from Minnesota to Alaska to settle his dead friend's estate.

As a first-class passenger on the Delta Airlines flight, Mr Burk was entitled to drinks before his take-off from Minneapolis. However, the crew member told him he ''ran out of time'' to serve him red wine. After takeoff, the flight attendant, identified as TC, served him a glass of red wine. When he returned later to collect meal trays from him, Mr Burk reached out to shake TC's hand, according to an affidavit.

10 minutes later, Mr Burk got up to use the restroom and stopped at the galley where TC was.

He told the male flight attendant that he was ''so beautiful', before asking for a kiss. The attendant replied, ''No, thank you,'' to which Burk then said, ''Okay, well on the neck then,'' and then proceeded to grab him and plant a smooch on his neck, making him extremely ''uncomfortable.'' 

''TC never gave verbal consent or implicit consent to Burk to allow him to touch or kiss TC, or to make him think it was okay to do so,” the affidavit says.

Due to the situation, the flight attendant had to move to the back of the plane for the rest of the six-hour journey.  Later, he was informed by a separate flight attendant that the passenger had damaged a tray that contained the food for the captain. 

He later asked for two more glasses of red wine and became ''wasted'' before falling asleep, according to the affidavit. 

When the plane touched down in Anchorage, Mr Burk was taken into custody by Airport Police. Upon questioning, he denied getting up to use the toilet, breaking a plate and planting the unwanted kiss. He, however, acknowledged drinking ''a lot'' before the flight.

The unruly passenger further denied consuming three glasses of red wine, saying he only drank the first one that TC served him and that he slept the rest of the flight. 

The passenger was ultimately charged with interfering with flight crew members and making false statements before being released on his own recognizance. He is due back in court on April 27.

Scientists Reveal The Reason Why Your Hair Turns Grey As You Age

Scientists have discovered the reason why human hair loses its colour and turns grey as we age, reported New York Post. According to a team of scientists, melanocyte stem cells become stuck inside the hair follicle and are unable to produce pigment.

The findings were published Wednesday in the peer-reviewed, scientific journal Nature. For the study, scientists spent two years tracking individual cells in the fur of mice in order to determine how hair turns grey and closely examined the melanocyte stem cells known to control hair colour. They used special scans and lab techniques to study the cell-ageing process.

They discovered that the pigment-producing part of a stem cell would change as the mice would mature. ''The melanocyte stem cell system fails earlier than other adult stem cell populations, which leads to hair greying in most humans and mice,'' the study says. 

As hair ages, sheds and grows back, melanocyte stem cells get stuck in a part of the hair follicle called the hair follicle bulge. As the stem cells stop roaming around the follicle and become fixed, they fail to mature into fully-fledged melanocytes. The hair then turns grey, white or silver because no pigment is being produced.

Mayumi Ito, the author of the study and dermatology professor at New York University's Grossman School of Medicine, said, “This is a really big step forward in understanding why we grey.”

He explained, ''It is the loss of chameleon-like function in melanocyte stem cells that may be responsible for greying and loss of hair colour.''

The researchers also suggested that if their findings hold true for humans, they could open up a potential way to reverse or prevent grey hair.

The study's lead investigator, Qi Sun, said, ''The newfound mechanisms raise the possibility that the same fixed-positioning of melanocyte stem cells may exist in humans. If so, it presents a potential pathway for reversing or preventing the greying of human hair by helping jammed cells to move again between developing hair follicle compartments.”

Youth Congress Chief Charged After Harassment Allegation By Colleague

Indian Youth Congress president Srinivas BV was charged with "outraging a woman's modesty, criminal intimidation, and sexual harassment by making sexually coloured remarks" by the Assam police on Friday.

The charge is based on a complaint by the party's former youth wing chief Angkita Dutta that she registered at Dispur Police station on Wednesday. She has also recorded her statement before a magistrate, which means she cannot change her statement now.

The ambit of charges filed against Srinivas BV in the First Information Report (FIR) include outraging a woman's modesty, sexual harassment by making sexually coloured remarks, criminal intimidation, assault, and wrongful restraint.

Additionally, the National Commission for Women also took suo moto cognizance of the case based on Ms Dutta's tweet and sought a probe by the Assam Police. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Assam Police, which is conducting the inquiry, will send a report to the commission.

Notably, this is a separate probe from the FIR filed at Dispur Police station.

Angkita Dutta alleged that Mr Srinivas and another IYC leader, Vardhan Yadav, had discriminated against her based on her gender and had used foul language to threaten her. Ms Dutta also claimed that she informed the party leadership about the issue but no action was taken.

Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) found Ms Dutta's allegations "baseless and politically motivated", sources said.

Furthermore, Assam Congress also issued a show-cause notice to Ms Dutta yesterday, and asked her to explain why disciplinary action should not be taken against her within 24 hours.

She has since responded to the notice and the reply shall be shared with the AICC which will finally determine the action to be taken. Sources said that Assam Congress will take strong disciplinary action against the allegation and will likely suspend Ms Dutta from the party.

Mr Srinivas has denied the allegations and filed a defamation suit against Angkita Dutta for using "unparliamentary and defamatory" words against him. He is currently campaigning for the Congress in Karnataka ahead of the assembly elections next month.

The video shows an elderly man clad in white shirt and dhoti wiping the cutout of the Prime Minister drenched in rain on Friday evening.

When the person who shot the video asked him whether he was doing it for money, the man replied, "I don't need money. I don't take money from anyone. I am doing it because of my love and trust on him (PM Modi)."

Choking in emotion, he said, "To us Modi is God." After his road show was cancelled owing to downpour, Union Minister Amit Shah shared the video on his Twitter handle.

World Likely To Face Record Temperatures This Year As El Nino Returns

The world could breach a new average temperature record in 2023 or 2024, fuelled by climate change and the anticipated return of the El Nino weather phenomenon, climate scientists say.

Climate models suggest that after three years of the La Nina weather pattern in the Pacific Ocean, which generally lowers global temperatures slightly, the world will experience a return to El Nino, the warmer counterpart, later this year.

During El Nino, winds blowing west along the equator slow down, and warm water is pushed east, creating warmer surface ocean temperatures.

"El Nino is normally associated with record breaking temperatures at the global level. Whether this will happen in 2023 or 2024 is yet known, but it is, I think, more likely than not," said Carlo Buontempo, director of the EU's Copernicus Climate Change Service.

Climate models suggest a return to El Nino conditions in the late boreal summer, and the possibility of a strong El Nino developing towards the end of the year, Buontempo said.

The world's hottest year on record so far was 2016, coinciding with a strong El Nino - although climate change has fuelled extreme temperatures even in years without the phenomenon.

The last eight years were the world's eight hottest on record - reflecting the longer-term warming trend driven by greenhouse gas emissions.

Friederike Otto, senior lecturer at Imperial College London's Grantham Institute, said El Nino-fuelled temperatures could worsen the climate change impacts countries are already experiencing - including severe heatwaves, drought and wildfires.

"If El Nino does develop, there is a good chance 2023 will be even hotter than 2016 - considering the world has continued to warm as humans continue to burn fossil fuels," Otto said.

EU Copernicus scientists published a report on Thursday assessing the climate extremes the world experienced last year, its fifth-warmest year on record.

Europe experienced its hottest summer on record in 2022, while climate change-fuelled extreme rain caused disastrous flooding in Pakistan, and in February, Antarctic sea ice levels hit a record low.

The world's average global temperature is now 1.2C higher than in pre-industrial times, Copernicus said.

Despite most of the world's major emitters pledging to eventually slash their net emissions to zero, global CO2 emissions last year continued to rise.

Points Table "Can't Define Team": Kohli After Win As RCB Stand-in Captain

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) stand-in skipper Virat Kohli said that the target batters put on the board was enough and there was no need to take the game till the end against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium on Thursday. RCB won the match against PBKS by 24 runs. RCB opener Faf du Plessis's 84 off 56 balls and Virat Kohli's 59 off 47 helped the team score 174 which PBKS failed to chase, getting all not in 18.2 overs.

In the post-match presentation, Virat said that he did not want the game to go till the end especially after they had dismissed two-thirds of the Punjab team to the pavilion.

"The strategy was to bat deep to have a crack at 190. Told them (the bowlers) that the target was more than enough. Cannot afford to take the game deep, especially when they lost 6-7 wickets," Kohli said in a post-match presentation.

When asked about their team's position in the points table, Virat said that the points table cannot define how good their team is and he also said that he would be concerned about points after playing the 13 or 14 games in the tournament.

"The table can't define your team. It's towards game 13 or 14 we can try and focus on what we need to do," Virat said.

Since Bangalore had gotten a solid start in the start, there was a feeling that they were 20-25 run short. However, in the second innings, the total seemed unachievable.

Siraj took a total of four wickets whereas Wanindu Hasaranga claimed two and Harshal Patel and Wayne Parnell scalped one wicket each.

"Faf batted really well on that pitch. His innings ensured we had that 20-30 extra at the end. The pitch was very rough underneath, there was not enough water there I guess. There were hardly any sixes hit off the back foot against the spinners," the RCB captain continued.

"The batting lineups are deeper, but we also have options in our bowling. At the halfway stage, the talk was to take the game to the opposition and you kind of break the game open when you pick up 4 wickets in the powerplay," Virat concluded.

Prince William Helps Out At Indian Restaurant In Birmingham, Takes Booking

Britain's Prince William helped out an Indian restaurant during a royal visit on Thursday by taking a phone reservation from an unsuspecting customer.

The heir to the British throne and his wife Kate were visiting the family-run restaurant Indian Streatery during their trip to Birmingham in central England, when he took the call from someone seeking a booking for two people.

After checking with the owners as to the restaurant's location, he then had a discussion with the caller about when a table was free and whether they would have time to eat before catching their train.

"What name is it under?" the prince said as he concluded the conversation, without revealing his own name to the caller. "See you at quarter past two."

Prince William's office later said on Twitter: "Hope we told this customer to come to the right place...!"

As well as taking the booking, the royals also helped out preparing dishes in the restaurant's kitchen before continuing their visit in the city with a game of darts at an underground bar.

India's Economy, Development Goals At Risk Due To Extreme Heat: Study

Killer heat waves are putting "unprecedented burdens" on India's agriculture, economy and public health, with climate change undermining the country's long-term efforts to reduce poverty, inequality and illness, a new study showed.

Extreme heat has caused more than 24,000 deaths since 1992 and has also driven up air pollution and accelerated glacial melt in northern India, said a team of scholars led by the University of Cambridge's Ramit Debnath.

India is now "facing a collision of multiple, cumulative climate hazards", with extreme weather happening almost every day from January to October last year, they said.

Mr Debnath told Reuters that it was "very important to figure out how we measure vulnerabilities to frequent extreme events", with the Indian government's own "climate vulnerability index" believed to underestimate the impact that longer, earlier and more frequent heatwaves will have on development.

As much as 90% of India's total area now lies in extreme heat danger zones, and it is not fully prepared, he warned.

"India has already done quite a bit in terms of heat mitigation - they actually now recognise heatwaves as part of their disaster relief package," he said. "But there's a need to optimise the pace of these plans."

"The adaptation measures that are being put on paper are quite substantial ... and I think they have a very strong solid plan, but it's how they are implemented."

The researchers also warned that heatwaves were weakening India's efforts to meet its "Social Development Goals", a list of 17 UN objectives to cut poverty, hunger, inequality and disease.

Extreme heat could ultimately lead to a 15% decline in "outdoor working capacity", reduce the quality of life of up to 480 million people and cost 2.8% of GDP by 2050, they said.

Falling productivity caused by extreme high temperatures could already be costing India 5.4% of its GDP, according to the Climate Transparency Report published by environmental groups last year.

101 Skydivers Over The Age Of 60 Attempt To Break A World Record In US

More than 100 seniors over the age of 60 took part in a group skydiving event in California, United States, in an effort to break a world record.

This group, which is named Skydivers Over Sixty, created formations in mid-air and broke two world records. 

The 101 jumpers successfully constructed a snowflake formation on their fourth attempt, according to the organisation that organised the exercise.

The Southern California skydiving facility Skydive Perris posted pictures of the occasion on Instagram and noted that the elderly skydivers broke two world records.

"This was a big weekend for @p3skydiving as they landed not one but TWO world records. SOS (Skydivers Over Sixty) was able to complete a 1-point 101-way on Saturday, 4/15/2023, beating the previous record of a 75-way at Chicago in 2018. Then they wondered, why stop there? So they went back up and completed a 2-point 95-way on Sunday, 4/16/2023, beating the last record of a 60-way at Perris in 2017," the centre wrote in the post.

"By Not Following Law...": Sharad Pawar On UP Gangster's On-Camera Killing

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar on Tuesday said an "atmosphere is being created" that taking law into one's hand is the right thing to do, but this bodes ill for the country.

Speaking at an Iftar party organised by the NCP here, he said the NCP will never compromise on law and order and the ideals of the Constitution.

The veteran politician was apparently referring to politician-gangster's Atiq Ahmad's murder while in police custody in Uttar Pradesh.

"When someone does something wrong in society, law has provisions to deal with such a person. But by not following the law and Constitution and taking law into one's hand...certain steps are taken. There is an attempt to create an atmosphere that this is the right thing to do, and this is not good for the country," Pawar said.

The event was attended by NCP leaders including Ajit Pawar, MPs Supriya Sule, Fauzia Khan and Mohammed Faizal and former ministers Chhagan Bhujbal, Anil Deshmukh and Jitendra Awhad.

Salman Khan just dropped the latest song from his upcoming film Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan and we must admit, it's all kinds of fun. From foot-tapping music to energetic dance steps, the song titled Let's Dance Chotu Motu is an absolute riot. However, what keeps one hooked throughout the Honey Singh track is one and only Salman Khan, who can be spotted dancing in a lungi and having the time of his life. Pooja Hedge, in a beautiful lehenga is indeed a spectacle. The song is sung by Salman Khan and Devi Sri Prasad with rap by Yo Yo Honey Singh and Neha Bhasin. The song also features Venkatesh Daggubati, Shehnaaz Gill, Jassie Gill, Bhumika Chawla, Raghav Juyal, Siddharth Nigam, Palak Tiwari and others.

The trailer was released earlier this month. The screening of the trailer was held at a multiplex in Mumbai amid high security. Salman Khan appeared in style for the release of the trailer of his new film Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. Also at the event were Shehnaaz Gill, Palak Tiwari and others from the cast of the film.

The film marks the Bollywood debut of Shehnaaz Gill and Palak Tiwari. RRR actor Ram Charan will make a special appearance in the film song Yentamma. It is a Salman Khan Films Production, produced by Salma Khan.

Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan was previously titled Kabhi Eid Kabhi Diwali and is being produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. The film is slated to release during Eid on April 21. Salman Khan was last seen in the 2022 film Antim, directed by Mahesh Manjrekar. The film also featured Salman Khan's brother-in-law Aayush Sharma (married to Arpita Khan). He also made a cameo appearance in Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan earlier this year.

Salman Khan will also be seen in Tiger 3 alongside Katrina Kaif. The third instalment of the spy-thriller is directed by Maneesh Sharma. Salman's Tiger made a cameo appearance in Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan. Both films are part of YRF's spy universe, which started with Salman's Ek Tha Tiger. Now, as per the latest developments, the much-anticipated Tiger Vs Pathaan face-off will be directed by Siddharth Anand.

World's Richest City Has Over 3 Lakh Millionaires: Report

New York has taken the crown of being the world's richest city, yet again, with the most millionaires in 2023, according to a report. The city has 3,40,000 millionaires, according to global wealth tracker Henley & Partners.

The city is followed by Tokyo and San Francisco Bay Area with resident millionaire populations of 290,300 and 285,000, respectively.

The report - World's Wealthiest Cities Report 2023 - covers 97 cities across nine regions worldwide (Africa, Australasia, CIS, East Asia, Europe, the Middle East, North America, South Asia, and Southeast Asia) and includes most of the world's top wealth hubs.

The US dominated the list with four of its cities - New York, The Bay Area, Los Angeles and Chicago - making it to the list. China has two of its cities (Beijing and Shanghai) in the list.

London has dropped to fourth place on this year's list with 258,000 resident high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs), followed by city-state Singapore with 240,100. In 2000, London was the top city in the world for millionaires, but it has slipped down the list over the past 20 years.

The Big Apple - a nickname for New York City - is home to 3,40,000 millionaires, 724 centi-millionaires, and 58 billionaires. It is home to the world's two largest stock exchanges by market cap (the NYSE and the Nasdaq). The city comprises the five boroughs of the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island, and features some of the world's most exclusive residential streets, including 5th Avenue in Manhattan where prime apartment prices can exceed $27,000 per square meter, according to the report.

Court's Big Order On Harassment Charges By Chennai Art Centre Students

The Madras High Court today directed Kalakshetra Foundation, a top arts and cultural academy in Chennai, to restrain the faculty member accused of sexual harassment from contacting students. Hearing a plea filed by seven students, the court also sought the inquiry report filed by the State Commission for Women.

The students who have appealed for anonymity, seek formulation of safety policy on campus besides a redressal mechanism to deal with sexual harassment allegations. They also want the institute's internal complaints committee reconstituted, with student and parent representatives.

Their plea comes following the arrest and suspension of Assistant Professor Hari Padman from the institute for alleged sexual harassment and intimidation. Investigation is underway by police, State Women's Commission and an independent committee constituted by the Kalakshetra Board.

Around 200 students, both men and women, protested a fortnight ago alleging sexual harassment, body shaming and discrimination on the basis of colour by the assistant professor and three other repertory artists over the last many years. A few past students had also complained that those students who did not yield were given low grades and denied performance opportunities in key programmes on campus.  

They also alleged the institute's management, including its Director Revathi Ramachandran, was attempting a cover up.

In a flip flop, the National Women's Commission (NCW) that sought police action by the state DGP, applied brakes on the investigation calling the sexual harassment allegations a misinformation against the union government funded dance and cultural institute.

The State Women's Commission Chief has said she received around 90 complaints from both men and women students, some had even alleged sexual abuse. Chief Minister MK Stalin has said legal action would be take against anyone if found guilty.

The institute's Director had recently said, "All concerns of the students would be addressed."

Talking about the match, Devon Conway slammed a blistering 83 off 45 balls while Shivam Dube blazed away to a 27-ball 52 as Chennai Super Kings posted an imposing 226 for six in an IPL match on Monday.
Opting to bowl, it was a struggle for RCB's bowling attack as the CSK batters went hammer and tongs from the onset.

CSK started on a bright note thanks to Conway who first whipped Wayne Parnell to the mid wicket boundary in the second over and, three balls later, lifted the South African over the fine leg fence.

Ruturaj Gaikwad struggled as he departed in the third over, finding Parnell in the outfield from a Mohammed Siraj delivery.

Conway was unperturbed as he went about his business in style, scooping Vijaykumar Vyshak over the keeper for a four, and a ball later, Ajinkya Rahane (37 off 20) executed a perfect hook shot to send the ball into the stands.

Rahane looked in a mood to prove a point as he clobbered Parnell for two boundaries and a six to pick up 15 runs from the sixth over.

Introduced into the attack in the seventh over, Glen Maxwell was hit out of the park by Conway. The duo looked in ominous form as they gathered a boundary or a six in all most every over of their partnership.

Conway was at his brutal best as he smoked Wanindu Hasaranga de Silva over midwicket for a huge six in the 10th over, before the Lankan spinner broke the dangerous-looking partnership by cleaning up Rahane. Conway brought up his second fifty on the trot with a double in the same over.

The New Zealander then smashed Hasaranga for a boundary as CSK reached 97 for two at the halfway stage. Shivam Dube marked his arrival at the crease with a huge six off Maxwell, while Conway continued his onslaught and smashed rookie Vijaykumar for back-to-back fours.

It turned out to be a nightmarish outing for young Vijaykumar as Conway clobbered the bowler over fine-leg boundary for another maximum.

Aim For 150, Else BJP Will "Steal" Government: Rahul Gandhi In Karnataka

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Sunday said there is a strong undercurrent in favour of Congress in poll-bound Karnataka but pressed on his leaders to ensure that the party wins at least 150 seats so that the next government is not "stolen" by a corrupt BJP.

He also reminded everyone that people in the party have a duty to defend the idea of India from the RSS and BJP amid hatred, violence and attacks on the country's institutions.

The Congress leader arrived in Karnataka on a two-day event to take part in a series of events in Kolar, Bengaluru and Bidar before flying back to Delhi.

"Most of us are aware of what the BJP is doing to the nation in terms of hatred and violence, the attack on institutions. These are the things that are visible to everybody," Mr Gandhi said after inaugurating Indira Gandhi Bhavan.

Dwelling on his party's prospects in the May 10 Karnataka Assembly election, he said, "We are facing an election now in Karnataka and I am quite happy to see that there is a very strong undercurrent in favour of the Congress and I am confident that the party is going to win the election." The Congress leader expressed happiness that there was "certain amount of unity" among party leaders in the state. "I am happy to see also that there is a certain amount of unity among all our leaders, unity of purpose and unity of action. I saw all the leaders of Karnataka during the Bharat Jodo Yatra," he added.

Winning elections in a close manner will not work in Karnataka, Mr Gandhi said urging his leaders to win at least 150 seats of the total 224 in the Assembly.

"We have to win the election with 150 seats because the BJP is a corrupt organisation. The BJP has a huge amount of money that they have stolen from the people of Karnataka and they will attempt to steal the next government as well," he underlined.

The Congress leader said he was confident that if Congress campaigned in a united manner and stood together, then the party will win the election hands down.

"The essence of our country, the nature of our country is being attacked and it is our duty as Congress people, as people who have helped build the modern idea of India, as the institution, the organisation that has helped build the modern idea of India to defend it from RSS and the BJP." Lashing out at the Basavaraj Bommai-led dispensation, the former Congress president said everybody knew the state government in Karnataka is one of the most corrupt in the country.

"The tag '40 per cent Sarkar' has stuck. Everybody understands that the BJP in Karnataka is a symbol of corruption," Mr Gandhi said pointing out that the people of Karnataka are keen to teach a lesson to the '40 per cent Sarkar'.

Stating that the BJP government has "gone beyond being corrupt", Mr Gandhi underscored that no matter what Prime Minister Narendra Modi said or did, it was very clear to the people of Karnataka that the BJP wasted its time.

"They have stolen five years of theirs because this government did not belong to them. This was a non-BJP government that was elected and this was a government that has been stolen," the Congress leader said.

Congress has made corruption as a poll plank alleging that the ministers demand 40 per cent commission on public works from contractors.

Appealing to the Congress workers to work hard in this election, he said a message should be conveyed that the party is coming to power with a serious purpose to deliver things to the people of Karnataka.

In the outgoing 224-member Assembly, the BJP currently has 119 seats, followed by the Congress with 75 and the JD (S) with 28 seats. Two seats are vacant.

While polling for the Assembly election will take place on May 10, the results would be declared on May 13.
