Markets open volatile; Sensex, Nifty slip to red after early gains

Sensex gained more than 120 points to open at 36,452.74. However, the index erased most of the gains and at 9.28 am, it was back to the previous closing levels. Nifty followed suit as the index gained more than 40 points to open above the key 11,000-mark but had slipped in to the red in early trading.
