Sensex opened just under the 38,800-mark after gaining 74 points at the opening bell. The broader 50-share NSE Nifty gained 15 points to open at 11,694.75. In the morning session, investor sentiments received a jolt with the rupee hitting a new low of 70.82 against the US dollar.
